Community
Groups put City of Sydney Council on notice
Fifteen
key community groups from the new City of Sydney Council area agreed
last night to work together to achieve a greater voice. Community groups
involved shared common experiences of being ignored and marginalised
by the city council.
The meeting
unanimously resolved;
1/ Community
groups across the newly expanded city boundary area commit to working
with the city council to achieve more meaningful community consultation
and genuine dialogue.
2/ The
groups formed an umbrella organisation to press for;
- a review
of planning instruments
- greatly
improved consultation processes
- improved
transparency of council processes
- leadership
from council in opposing developments that are against the interests
of local communities
