Born 24 February 1958 in Graz, Austria, as Horst Gerald Ganglbauer; Johannes Kepler High School (first programming in BASIC and FORTRAN computer languages), 1977-1978 Course in Office/Time and Efficiency Management (REFA), Civil Engineering at Ortwein College (Certificate 1979), Studies at Technical University of Graz (Process Engineering) and University of Graz (Akademischer Medienfachmann, Studies of Mass Media Communication, Journalism, Media Sociology, Public Relations, Advertising, Print Media, and Book Publishing, Degree 1986); after some years in Vienna, since 1989 in Sydney, Australia, Diploma at the SIT (Information Technology, Microsoft Visual Studio, ASP.NET, C#, SQL Database Server, Distinction 2006).

Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2006, he retired from the active work force and dedicates his life to pro bono and volunteer work as Convenor of the Parkinson's NSW Ultimo Support Group, and InterNations Ambassador for Sydney. Gerald is also member of the board of directors of the World Federation of Austrians Abroad (AÖWB).
